Critical Illness Cover - why its important!

You may be quite optimistic about growing to a ripe age. You eat well (your wife has always been an excellent cook), you live an active lifestyle (what with the kids constantly chasing you around!), and the NHS has served you well over the years. But you or your partner may be concerned that an accident or terminal illness could just be round the corner, waiting to ruin all that the two of you have built together. Cancer, for example, can happen to even the healthiest of people. Knowing quite what to do, or how to prepare, for anything like this can be troubling.

Many of us don’t like to think of our demise, but many of us do worry what the effects of cancer, a heart attack or stroke could have on our families. Time and energy would need to be spent recuperating and recovering, rather than worrying trying to make ends meet. You know you need insurance.

By taking out critical illness cover, you can protect against a range of terminal illnesses, giving you and your partner peace of mind. Different companies and polices will cover different illnesses, although there are several that all insurers and policies cover. Your quote will vary depending upon your circumstances, and you must give full and accurate information while creating your policy. Any information not mentioned may compromise your policy.

Critical illness cover will also cover a range of injuries sustained as a result of an accident. Accidents do happen, and again, they can happen to anyone, no matter how well a life you live.

If you rent your property, you should consider level term insurance with critical illness cover; however, if you have a mortgage, you should look at purchasing decreasing mortgage life insurance with the same benefit. This will ensure your mortgage is always covered, no matter what happens to you.

You can choose to take critical illness cover on its own, or as a benefit with another life insurance policy. You may want to consider adding critical illness cover to your existing level term life insurance, or decreasing mortgage life insurance. Both policies offer your family protection in the event of your death. However, if critical illness cover is added to either of these policies, then your policy will include the option to receive payout on diagnosis, rather than on your death. This could be a great help to put your own mind at rest should anything happen to you, allowing you to see how wise the investment was for you and your family.

Insurance for Winter sports

Winter sports holidays are not for the faint hearted. But the idea of strapping yourself to a board or two and gliding (hopefully gracefully, but that’s not always the case) down a crisp white slope of snow to some is just too good an opportunity to miss.

There are many kinds of different winter sorts you can get involved in on your holiday, and you need to make sure you are covered for any kind of winter sort you engage in. Sports can include snowboarding, skiing, tobogganing, ice skating and so many more.

Problem is, these types of sports can quickly lead to a nasty injury. For most, this is a consequence they are willing to take for the pleasure of the sport, but if you are enjoying your favourite winter sport in a foreign country, you need to be sure you are fully protected for any and all medical expenses.

Because of the increase in holiday makers opting to go for this more extreme holiday, more insurance companies are playing catch up, and creating competitive prices for your holiday insurance needs.

If you are travelling as part of a large party, be sure to speak to your friend about their travel insurance options. Some may already have all year round cover, which will simply need an extra benefit or two added. However, for those in your party that do not have insurance, it may prove more cost effective to contribute together and get cover for the entire group rather than arrange several individual policies. Try getting different quotes based on different party sizes and see which is more affordable for you.

You will be expected to adhere to all weather and piste advice given to you during your trip. Your insurance could be compromised if you engage in an activity that professionals from your holiday provider have suggested against. How Travel Insurance Can Help With Lost Luggage

Believe it or not, an average of one in every 150 people will not arrive at their destination along with their luggage when they travel! This can be frustrating for the person whose belongings have gone astray, especially if they are only away for a night or two. Although approximately 85 per cent of these bags are recovered and sent back to the rightful owner within 48 hours, this may not be of any comfort if you are only away for one or two nights and urgently require the contents of your bags.

Some bags are never recovered as they could get stolen or even taken my mistake by some other passenger. Imagine if you were one of the 15 per cent who never gets their luggage back! Although an airline will pay compensation to you if your bag is lost or delayed for a lengthy time, you are more likely to receive a more satisfying compensation amount from an insurance company.

A delayed bag is usually classed as any luggage which has been missing for 21 days or less. In these circumstances the airline will probably agree to cover an amount each day in order for you to purchase toiletries or underwear. You would most probably have to purchase these yourself and keep the receipts for claiming back these expenses at a later date. Your insurance company would usually give you an immediate payout of between 50 and 75 pounds for the same purchases.

If a bag is missing for longer than 21 days, it is usually deemed to be permanently missing and you should be compensated accordingly. The maximum amount which is usually compensated by an airline to those whose bags have gone missing is 800 pounds. By having a good travel plan in place you may be compensated up to 200 pounds if your bags have been delayed for up to 48 hours and if they are missing permanently you could receive between 1500 and 2000 pounds which is considerably more than what you would get without travel insurance.

So if you are thinking of taking a trip, you should consider taking out suitable travel insurance and make sure that it covers you for lost luggage. This is even more important for those who are taking more than one airplane to get to their destination as statistics show that the incidences of lost luggage are considerably higher for holidays where connecting flights are involved.

What to Know Before Buying Life Insurance Policies

A life insurance policy can give you comfort and security in the case of unexpected problems. Nobody knows what lies ahead but if you are prepared for all possibilities, you will lessen any worries you may have. Life insurance can give you that guarantee that everything will be taken care of if the worst were to happen and you were to die suddenly.

A life insurance policy can give you that added peace of mind for the future and there are many aspects to a life insurance policy nowadays. There are policies out there that will cover you in the event of your death but also some that will also pay out an amount at a specified date in the future should you not die beforehand.

It is important that you shop around before purchasing your life insurance policy as there are so many variations out there and a huge amount of companies fighting to get your business. You will find companies offering a huge array of policies all at different prices. They all have different terms, conditions, excesses and premiums. Most of the insurance companies have websites where you can browse through their different products and compare the best ones for you. The reputable companies will also have a dedicated customer service team that will be available to answer any queries you may have regarding different policies.

Many companies out there are offering life insurance policies at very cheap prices which may not always include cover for everything you require so it is best to check over the terms and conditions before purchasing. Check online for reviews of the product you are thinking of purchasing and you will be able to read people’s experiences first-hand before committing to buy. Remember the policy with the cheapest premium is not always the best. You do not want to pay out a premium every week or month only to find out that it does not pay out when you thought it would or worse still that your loved ones are not adequately provided for in the event of your death.
