Having a dream holiday can still be a luxury that some people need to save up hard for. For others who have two and three holidays a year, travelling has become part and parcel of their lives. But for those who are saving hard just to get one holiday abroad every two or three years, travel insurance can seem like an added expense they can do without. A lot of people think that this is money down the drain – after all what is going to happen? For the majority of people nothing does happen but for the unfortunate few, things can go wrong, and if they do it is imperative that you have a good travel insurance policy in place.
Imagine the worry of something going drastically wrong while you are away. People can have accidents and can get sick while abroad and this can be distressing to say the least. If you had the added worry of not being able to pay for care for your loved one while away, that would be much worse. If the unthinkable were to happen, having a travel insurance company to take care of all the details would be a blessing in disguise – one that you would be thankful you had in place!
There are also more minor mishaps which could occur such as lost luggage or money being stolen from you. These are not life threatening but could still result in your holiday being ruined if you had no cover in place. You could find you have some emergency before your holiday which could mean you had to cancel your trip. If you have an adequate insurance plan in place you could be refunded the full amount of your holiday meaning you will not be losing out on all the expense.
While it is vitally important to have a travel insurance policy in place for your travels, it is also important to make sure you fully read your policy and know exactly what is covered. You could be thinking that you are covered for something only to find out that you are not, and only when you actually need to claim for it. This could be a disaster. Imagine if you thought you were covered for lost luggage and when you try to claim you are told that this is not covered on your policy. You will be left with no luggage for whatever length of time and you will be angry and frustrated – that does not bode well for a good holiday.
Make sure that your travel insurance plan covers the parts you want. Make a list of things you would like covered and check with
